Great Degrees To Pursue If You’re A Hands-On Person

Great Degrees

You might be a hands-on person in your learning or day to day life; for example, you like to make items yourself or you are more interested in the nuts and bolts of processes than any abstract process underpinning them.

The education system is not naturally geared towards your style of learning and therefore you might think that higher education simply doesn’t appeal to you and that you might be better off pursuing an apprenticeship instead.

While going for an apprenticeship might be a good option in some circumstances, it is worth bearing in mind that there are a whole series of great degrees out there that do appeal to hands-on people. If you want to know what they are, you are in the right place as this guide has been created to give you the full overview.

Engineering

If you are the type of person who likes to get up close and personal with machines while figuring out just how they work (for example, getting to grips with an amazing Trotec Laser machine), then it is definitely a great idea to pursue an engineering degree. One of the most amazing benefits of such a degree is that it enables you to command both a high salary after graduation and to specialize in a whole series of different jobs.

Forensic Science

If conducting deep analysis on crime scene evidence is something that comes passionately to you, then it is never a bad idea to look for a degree in forensic science. This is especially true ever since DNA evidence caught its first murderer over 35 years ago. Just be warned, that if you are going into this degree, it isn’t as easy as it looks.

Forestry

If your passion is all about saving the environment, especially as trees are still disappearing at alarming rates, then it is not a bad idea to look at a degree in forestry. Naturally, this job would require you not just to study at university, but to also get out and about and see these trees for yourself. This is a perfect degree, therefore, if you are the kind of person who gets bored when you are spending too long studying inside.

Photography

If you are someone who likes to be out and about when they are studying, then there is definitely no better degree out there than taking up photography. This can be something that you can either pursue for artistic purposes or if you are interested in visual journalism. Either way, it is a chance to be out and about and to truly understand how to represent the world around you.

Painting

If visual arts are your jam but you are not very interested in the power of photography, then it might be a better idea for you to explore the different parts that are involved with taking up a degree in painting. Naturally, there is a heavy practical component to this course, meaning that you will be able to create new artworks basically every day when you are studying, making it the perfect option if you believe yourself to be a hands-on person.
