Hey, teachers! Wanna spice things up in the classroom? These 5 PowerPoint presentation add-ins will help you steal the show.
1. Visual timer
When you need your students to work in small groups on a project, want to play a game (like 30 Seconds or Pictionary), or want to set a time for a little break, insert a PowerPoint timer in your slides and let the clock start ticking! The visual timer creates a sense of urgency and focus – and that’s exactly what we need in class, right?
2. Dice throwing
Throwing the virtual dice is a great, fun way to let destiny decide. Use them for games or to add excitement to everyday assignments. Let your creativity flow – your students will dig the Vegas vibes in their regular school day.
3. Name picker
Whose turn is it to give a presentation or take an oral test? Use a name picker! Add your students’ names and let the tool pick a name at random. No more suspicion of favoritism (assuming, of course, that you enter them honestly).
4. Traffic light
Can your students consult with each other, or do they have to keep their mouths shut? A traffic light is a handy way to signal whether they can talk or not. You can change the lights from red to yellow and green. For instance, red can mean be quiet, green you can consult, and yellow you can ask questions. A traffic light is also a super fun way to get your students into position. Ready, set, GO!
5. Country map
Use the Country Map add-in to highlight countries or states on a map. Where did the Vikings originally come from? In which countries is French the national language? Which is the largest state in America? Test your students’ knowledge or explain the world in a very handy, visual way. Useful in geography class, of course – also a great tool to add to your history, English, or economics classes. Or to show where your next class or school outing will be.
