As usual this time of year, we compile and publish the list of the Top 50 Teacher Websites of the year. We comb the web and out of the numerous websites worldwide focusing on education policies, teaching practices, methodology, or educational technology, we find the ones that manage to stand out from the rest, the ones with the biggest social following.

So, has your favourite education website made the cut this year?

What was measured

To check the selection criteria and see what was measured and what was not, please see last year’s post The Top Edublogs of 2017. The results for 2018 were collected in September 2018. Some of this year’s findings are:

Top social networks

Facebook and Twitter are still the preferred media of the education community.

Pinterest and Instagram are on the rise but far from the top. In many cases we saw a decline in Google+ numbers.

Google’s own decision earlier on this year to discontinue its social media service will certainly affect next year’s listings.

Teacher Websites: the biggest influencers

The situation at the top of the list remains unchanged. Big brand names like EdSurge and Edutopia hold their top five positions.

This year we included in our database another 25 websites, some of which have occupied really high positions. An example is George Couros’ The Principal of Change that is in the top 20 with a single Twitter account.
